What we collect. What we don't. What leaves.

The short, honest version. The long version is the legal document at /legal/privacy — this is the one written by humans, for humans.

the two lists

What we collect vs what we don't.

we collect
  • Email + display name
  • Sessions you create
  • Messages inside sessions (yours + tutor's)
  • Recall cards and reviews
  • Explain-back submissions and grades
  • Weekly Brain scores
we don't
  • Location data
  • Mouse movement or eye position
  • Third-party cookies or cross-site tracking
  • Behavioral graphs / profiles outside Brainback
  • Anything Stripe uses (card numbers, etc.)

What leaves the platform

Your messages and the tutor’s replies are sent to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic does not retain content for training under our commercial agreement — all API calls sit inside Anthropic’s zero-retention product tier.

Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see your card number.

What parents see

Only effort signal: time on task, hints used, explain-back scores, recall streaks, Brain score. Never any content. See the parent-privacy stance for the full reasoning.

Deleting your account

Settings → Delete account. Removes your profile, sessions, messages, recall cards, and scores permanently within 30 days. Backups purge on a 90-day rolling window.

Legal version

The long, cross-jurisdictional version lives at /legal/privacy. This page is the plain-language one you can actually read.
