The attempt is where learning starts. It is also where most students try to cut corners. Here is what a real attempt looks like.
A real attempt is honest about what you know and don't. If you're stuck at the setup, write the setup and stop. If you're stuck at the algebra, write the algebra and stop. The tutor works better when it can see the exact point of the stall.
A real attempt is not a copy-paste of the problem. That's not an attempt; that's a lookup request. Brainback rejects it.
A real attempt commits to a direction, even a wrong one. 'I set it up as x + y = z and got stuck factoring' is a good attempt. 'I don't know how to start' is not.
